Me and Jem discovered someone has been leaving things for us in a knot-hole tree. They left us soap dolls that looked exactly like us. We found a whole pack of chewing gum one time. We don’t know who is leaving us these, but we are always grateful. We decided to write them a letter of thanks. I didn't think it was such a good idea, but Jem did it anyway.
The next morning we found out Mr. Nathan filled up the hole. He said it was dying. Since Atticus knows everything, we asked him about it, he told us the tree was very healthy. I think Mr. Nathan just doesn’t want us finding stuff in the tree anymore, but we don’t know why. Is he the one hiding things for us? If so, why would he suddenly not want us to find things?
